This privacy policy applies to the PairPay app ("Application") for iOS, created by Eduardo Perez ("Service Provider") as a free service. This service is intended for use "AS IS."
The short version: PairPay does not show ads, does not track you, does not sell your data, and does not access your device's advertising identifier or location. Your data exists solely to make the app work for you and your partner.
Data We Collect
When you use the Application, we collect the following types of information:
Information you provide
- Email address — used for account creation and sign-in via Firebase Authentication
- Expense data — amounts, descriptions, and categories you enter when logging shared expenses
- Partner nicknames — display names used within the app for you and your partner
- Payment method names — names you assign to your payment methods (e.g., "Cash," "Visa") when using Shared mode to track which card or account fronted a shared expense
Information collected automatically
- Device token — used to deliver push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging when your partner logs an expense, settles up, or performs a withdrawal
- Crash reports — collected automatically by Firebase Crashlytics to help diagnose and fix app issues
- Basic device info — operating system version, device type, and IP address, collected as part of Firebase services
Information we do not collect
- Precise or approximate location data
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- Behavioral analytics or usage tracking
- Contacts, photos, or other device data
How We Use Your Data
All data collected by PairPay is used exclusively for app functionality:
- To create and authenticate your account
- To store and sync shared expenses between you and your partner
- To send push notifications when your partner logs an expense, settles up, or performs a withdrawal
- To monitor app stability and fix crashes
We do not use your data for advertising, behavioral profiling, marketing, or any purpose beyond making PairPay work as intended.
Third-Party Services
The Application relies on the following third-party services provided by Google. Each service processes data according to its own privacy policy:

Firebase Cloud Functions
Executes server-side operations on your behalf, including account deletion, partner unpairing, and invite code management. These functions process user identifiers and connection data solely to perform the requested action.

Data Transfer
Your data is stored and processed on Google Firebase servers located in the United States. By using the Application, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country of residence.
Advertising & Tracking
PairPay contains no advertising of any kind. The Application does not use tracking technologies, does not participate in ad networks, does not access the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), and does not use Firebase Analytics or any behavioral analytics service. Our App Tracking Transparency declaration reflects this: NSPrivacyTracking is set to false.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes.
Disclosure of Information
The Service Provider may disclose your information only in the following circumstances:
- As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process
- When disclosure is believed in good faith to be necessary to protect rights, safety, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request
- With trusted service providers (listed above) who process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy commitments
Account & Data Deletion
You can delete your account from within the Application. Please be aware of how deletion currently works:
- What is deleted: Your Firebase Authentication account is permanently removed, which disables sign-in and access to the app.
- What is not yet deleted automatically: Expense records, partner connections, and other data stored in Firebase Realtime Database are not automatically removed when you delete your account.
To request complete deletion of all your data, including database records, please email pairpayteam@gmail.com. We will process your request within 7 days.
We are actively working to implement full automatic data deletion as part of the in-app account deletion flow.
Data Retention
The Service Provider retains user-provided data for as long as you use the Application and for up to 90 days after your last use or account deletion. If you would like your data deleted sooner, you may use the in-app account deletion feature or contact pairpayteam@gmail.com.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your personal data. See the Account & Data Deletion section above for details.
- Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate data.
- Opt-out of sale: We do not sell personal data. There is nothing to opt out of.

Children's Privacy
The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, it will be immediately deleted. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact pairpayteam@gmail.com.
Security
The Service Provider is committed to safeguarding your information. Data is protected using Firebase's built-in security infrastructure, including encrypted data transfer via HTTPS and Firebase Authentication for access control. Your expense data is only accessible to you and your linked partner.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Your Consent
By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
